About Us

Positive Discipline Community Resources (PDCR) opened its doors in 2009 as a parent education, nonprofit. We are dedicated to bringing the international Positive Discipline (PD) movement to Santa Cruz and Monterey counties.  Our community members embrace the core principles of PD including mutual respect, dignity, and guiding children with firmness and kindness at the same time. Each member of this movement realizes the vital importance of giving families and classrooms

the support they need to encourage and teach children and youth.line has the potential to create relationships based on mutual respect and dignity, all of which lead to healthier, safer, and more just societies for everyone to enjoy.

Today, interest in Positive Discipline continues to grow with socially conscious organizations that believe respectful relationships can change communities for the better.  We’re excited, thankful, and hopeful that these new collaborations will lead to lasting change.

Our Services and Programs

We provide local classes, trainings, and support groups that will help increase your confidence and skills as parents, caregivers, educators, and service providers.  Our signature parenting program focuses on preschoolers (0-5 years), school-aged children

(5-12 years), and teens.  Positive Discipline is in schools where PD values bolster students’ social-emotional learning, and it’s practiced in all kinds of other community settings where people are starting to replace a culture of violence with one of respect.
