What do you need to know?
The Pajaro River levee breached at approximately midnight Friday, March 10th upstream from the community of Pajaro in the vicinity of River Mile 10. Currently, the breach is approximately 400 feet wide and flowing freely. Emergency temporary repair work to stabilize the breach with rocks and materials has begun.

Overnight Friday to Saturday, emergency personnel conducted more than 90 rescues in this area. Door-to-door evacuation notifications began to connect with residents who may not have left when emergency notices were issued. High water vehicles, dive and search and rescue and mutual support agencies are working in the area.

Due to the flooding that impacted drinking water facilities, the drinking water supplied by the following is possibly contaminated and Residents are advised NOT USE THE TAP WATER FOR DRINKING AND COOKING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE:

This message is from the Santa Cruz County Emergency Operations Center. An atmospheric river is scheduled to arrive later tonight, with the highest rainfall rates beginning overnight Tuesday into mid-morning. Additional rain is expected through the week. Impacts to include localized flooding, downed trees and slope failures, with road impacts and power outages likely. Prepare you and your family now.

​Residents who did not leave the area are still encouraged to do so. MST is providing free transportation to shelters, and Temporary Evacuation Points (TEP) which are open 24 hours. Evacuees who want to go to an Emergency Shelter but need transportation can go to a TEP to make arrangements. Pick ups are at the following locations:
