Positive Discipline for Parents of Preschoolers (2-5 yrs.) 8-week class series

What: This 8-week (16-hour) class series (tailored specifically for parents of preschoolers) provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include early child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation.    

Where: 1740 17th Ave Live Oak Community Resources
When: Tuesday's starting January 28th - March 17th from 6:30-8:30pm
Who: Facilitated by Colleen Murphy, Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, ECE co-op teacher with over 16 years of ECE teaching experience both with children and as a parent educator.


Cost: $100/per person and childcare available at $10/per child/per session

Navigating the School Years with Positive Discipline

What: This 8-week (16-hour) parenting class series is tailored specifically for parents of school-age children and provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation. Parents have commented that the experiential activities help them better get into their children's world and connect with them on deeper levels!

Navigating Fatherhood with Positive Discipline

What: This Saturday intensive 4-week (8-hour) class series (tailored specifically for fathers and the positive male role models in the lives of children) provides all the concepts and tools needed to successfully implement Positive Discipline.  Some of the prominent themes include social-emotional learning, seeking identity, belonging, and significance, the essential role that fathers and other men play in the lives of their families and community, modeling mutual respect, and demonstrating the positive attributes of 'REAL' men.
 

When: Saturdays, February 22nd- March 21st, 2020 from 10am-12pm

Where: Live Oak Community Resources, 1740 17th Avenue Santa Cruz, CA  95062

Who: Facilitated by Bret Smith, Performance Consultant and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator
 

Cost: $100 per person. $20 for the optional PD book (sold separately).
