Navigating the School Years with Positive Discipline

What: This 8-week (16-hour) parenting class series is tailored specifically for parents of school-age children and provides parents with all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family setting.  Some of the prominent themes include child brain development, social emotional learning, belonging and significance as innate social needs, the essential nature of long-term positive parent-child relationships, mutual respect, modeling behaviors, authoritative parenting styles that use kindness and firmness at the same time, connection before correction, the criteria for effective discipline, agreements and follow-through, non-violent communication, family meetings, routines, and the internal locus of control that guides parents and children alike to practice self-regulation. Parents have commented that the experiential activities help them better get into their children's world and connect with them on deeper levels!

When: Tuesdays, October 22 - December 10th, 2018 from 6:30pm-8:30pm

Where: Live Oak Community Resources 

Who: Colleen Murphy, Certified Positive Discipline Trainer, ECE co-op teacher with over 16 years of ECE teaching experience both with children and as a Certified Positive Discipline in the Classroom Educator

Navigating the Teen Years with Positive Discipline intensive class series

What: This 4-week (8-hour) intensive class series (tailored specifically for parents of teens and tweens, as well as for coaches and teachers) provides all the concepts and tools needed to implement Positive Discipline in the home/family/school setting.  Some of the prominent themes include the adolescent brain, social-emotional learning, seeking identity, belonging, and significance, the essential role of parents during this very challenging time, mutual respect, establishing and upholding limits around screentime, connection before correction, power struggles, and talking with tweens/teens about sex and drugs.    
When: Thursdays, Septermber 19th -  October 10th, 2019 from 6:30pm-8:30pm
Where: Harbor High School's Career Center, 300 La Fonda Avenue, Santa Cruz, CA  95062
Who: Facilitated by Bret Smith, Performance Consultant and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator
Cost: $60 per person -- $100 couples special -- $30 per person if taken as a refresher. $20 for the PD book which is sold separately and is optional.

Navigating Fatherhood with Positive Discipline

What: This intensive 4-week (8-hour) class series (tailored specifically for fathers and the positive male role models in the lives of children) provides all the concepts and tools needed to successfully implement Positive Discipline.  Some of the prominent themes include social-emotional learning, seeking identity, belonging, and significance, the essential role that fathers and other men play in the lives of their families and community, modeling mutual respect, and demonstrating the positive attributes of 'REAL' men.

When: Saturdays, September 21st - October 12th, 2019 from 10am-12pm

Who: Facilitated by Bret Smith, Performance Consultant and Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator

Cost: $60 per person. $20 for the optional PD book (sold separately).

Positive Discipline for Parents of Preschoolers (2-5 yrs.) intensive class series
